Farm-based Learning Opportunities for Kids
Epicob Kids is our child-centered investment education program that seeks to impart money management and general agriculture skills to set the stage for the next generation of business leaders and agricultural professionals. The program targets school-age kids ranging from 5 to 15 years. Kids @ Epicob partners with families and schools to establish child-run gardens that may be based in homes, schools or at any of our field locations all over Uganda.
The kids receive one-on-one support from our child-friendly experts in form of:
- ■ Home and school visits by our experts to deliver talks
- ■ On-site demonstrations of agricultural best practices to ensure success of kids' gardening activities
- ■ Child-friendly agribusiness and investment coaching events
- ■ Mentoring pair-ups between kids and our scientists and agribusiness experts
How to get your kids involved
- ■ Via the Grow Your Family's Food Program: All families who have signed up for our Grow Your Family's Food Program and have kids aged 5 through 15 may register to get the kids involved in Epicob Kids at no additional cost. The program enables kids to establish tailor-made home-based activities ranging from fish tanks and beehives to vegetables or flower gardens. Parents also have the option on sponsoring their children to enroll in our Farm for Income program in order to teach kids the business culture and discipline.
- ■ Via the Educational Institutions Food Production Program: Kids enrolled in schools that have signed up for our Educational Institutions Food Production Program are eligible to receive support for establishment and maintenance of school-based gardens or gardens based at the school's food sites located on one of our facilities. Schools that are signed up with our educational institutions program are also eligible to arrange scheduled study visits at our facilities.
